15 Useful Google Search Tricks you must to know

Most of us use Google search to search on various topics, products, tips, etc. No doubt it’s one of the best search engines available out there. In order to search something we simply enter the keywords in the search bar and search for stuff but did you ever know that there are several built in functions within Google which makes searching stuff even easier. Some of you’ll know about them. But well if you don’t, then here they are:

Google calculator:
Google search can be used as a calculator. It can calculate anything from the simplest math to the most complex equation. All you need to do is just enter the math in the search box and hit enter. You can use the following functions:
+ : add
- :subtract
* :multiply
/ :divide
^ :to the power of
sqrt : square root of a number

Dictionary Definitions:
You can define any word by entering “define:” following the word. For example define: ignoble
Google will display a list of dictionary definitions for that word.

Search for a specific title:
Suppose you came across a great article which you really liked but unfortunately forgot to bookmark it then you can find it easily with the help of Google provided you know the title of the article. Here’s how you do it:
Let’s say you read an article “Women talk three times as much as men” then you can search for it by typing “intitle: Women talk three times as much as men”

Google Convertor:
Using this feature you can convert units like millimeter into inches, kilometers into miles, liters into ml, etc. You can do so by typing ‘25km in miles’ for converting km in to miles, ‘50litres in ml’ for converting litres into ml, and so on.

Compare currencies:
Google’s search has an inbuilt currency converter. It allows you to perform any currency conversion. All you need to do is just enter the conversion you’d like done into the Google search box and hit “Enter” or click the Google Search button. For instance: “1 USD in INR”

Weather Updates:
You can easily know the weather condition of a specific place. In order to find out, all you need to do is just enter the place name followed by “weather”. For ex: “london weather”

Search for specific file types:

There are various kinds of files available over the net. Searching for a specific file type isn’t really easy. But using this tip you can easily search for a specific file type.
For instance if you want to search for a guide, let’s say a ‘Guide to Building a Successful IT Career’ in ppt format. You can make use of the “filetype:” function. So in order to search for the PPT version of the guide you can enter in search bar ‘Guide to Building a Successful IT Career filetype:ppt’

Search on a particular website:
If you want to search for something from a particular site using Google search then you can do so by using the “site:” feature. Here’s how you do it:
Let’s say you want to search for cloverfield DVD on Amazon, you can do so by typing “cloverfield DVD site:www.amazon.com”

Get the local time anywhere:

Wanna know what time is it in London now? You can ask Google by typing “what time is it London” in the search bar. You can also enter “time (location)” without the quotes.

Remove unwanted search results:
Suppose you wanted to search a Harry potter book review but you ended up in getting reviews of the movie rather than the book. Well in this case you can make Google to exclude the movie results from the search. You can do so by adding “-movie” at the end of the term. For instance: “Harry potter Chamber of secrets -movie” This will give search results excluding the movie- The chamber of secrets.

Search for URLs:
You can even search for URLs in Google search. For instance: “Women_talk_three_times_as_much_as_men”. You can also use “.” “-” instead of “_“. The search will bring up results with the URLs containing the above words entered.

Track flight status:
You can also track a particular flight status. All you need to do is just enter the airline and flight number into the search box and hit enter. You’ll get the arrival and departure time of the flight right inside Google’s search results.

Search Google groups by the subject line:
You need to be in the google groups search page before attempting this query; otherwise it might not work correctly. Using the “insubject:” function you can search google groups by the subject line. For instance “insubject:windows xp fast shutdown”

Find related sites:
Suppose you find an interesting website and you would like to find some other alternative to this site then you can do so by using “related:” function. For instance if you want to search an alternative for google.com you can do so by entering “related:www.google.com”

Find links to a specific URL:
You can find the webpages which have a link to a specific URL using the “link:” function. This is really great as it will help you if you own a website, you can easily find out the pages linking to a page in your site. To use it, you need to enter the whole URL after “link:”
For instance “link:http://www.cnn.com”
Well that’s it for now, hope you liked them. If you know more feel free to mention them here.

Whois Lookup service:
You can also search for information on a particular domain name. Just type in “whois domain.com” and hit enter. You’ll get to see the creation and expiry dates of the domain.

Suggests words, phrases and their results:
This is really helpful if you aren’t able to spell a particular word or you would like to know the results a particular word would contain when searched.

SMARTBRO Sim FBT/Downloading Trick RebBirth

Working Sites and applications:
*Mozilla firefox, Internet Explorer & Google Chrome web browsers are working
*Download accelerator can work especially Internet download manager
*Pwede ring magdownload sa mga file hosting sites using this trick!

Not-Working Sites and applications:
*Opera browser won't work kahit palitan ang settings
*All torrent applications, such as frostwire, bitorrent at kung anu-ano pang torrent
*as a substitute for parent proxy of all tunneling apps.
But don't worry, may trick tayo jan )

Eto ang mga proxy na kelangan nating gamitin sa pandaraya, este pag-iinternet, Working pa rin as of 11-20-10
203.84.191.216 port 80
121.1.3.199 port 80
121.1.3.250 port 80
121.1.3.208 port 80

Here's how to set-up the proxy and port for some applications

For Firefox:

on your firefox browser  go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Click network>Settings> select Manual proxy configuration then type the proxy and port on the HTTP Proxy box. Then check use this proxy server for all protocols. Now it should look like this:

Tapos subukan mo munang magbrowse sa google.com

For Internet Explorer and Google Chrome:

Go to Tools>Internet options>Select connections tab tapos dun s dial up and Virtual Private network settings may makikita kayong Smartbro dun sa box kung nakaconnect kayo sa internet. Double click niyo lang yun then check niyo yung "Use a proxy server for this connection" under Proxy Server. Tapos lagay niyo na yung proxy sa address at port. Now it should look like this:

For Internet Download Manager:

On your IDM Go to Downloads>Options>Select the "Proxy" tab Tapos check mo yung HTTP Proxy.

How to login, post and comment on Facebook and other social networking sites using this trick

First of all kelangan mo ng extra load for this to work, an extra 10 pesos para makalogin. I don't know why.
Procedure on how to login:
Then go to facebook.com and see kung nakalogin ka pa rin:) Tapos i-enable mo na yung proxy trick ng web browser mo

Ngayon paano ko makakapag comment, like at makapagpost? The answer is use the mobile and web version of facebook together
Ex:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?xxxxxxxx

Procedure:
1.Test your connection speed thru 2wire.net. Why 2wire and not speedtest.net?
Disconnect your prepaid kit thru its dashboard

2. Click settings>Network settings> Then under band settings
may makikita kang 3 pagpipilian:
     W850M
     W2100M
     W850M+W2100M (don't select this it won't work)

Ex. When you're on w850m, change it to 2100M

4. now connect your prepaid kit again then test whether your connection speed increases or not.

NOTE: Ganito lang po yung palagi nating gawin kung sa tingin niyo eh parang bumabagal yung speed ng internet connection Kung parehas talagang mabagal yung connection try to change the proxy you're using.

Philippines Rank 40 in Connection Speeds

The latest report from Royal Pingdom on the real-world connection speeds throw some interesting stats about the net speed across the world.
The report examines the real-world connection speeds for people in the top 50 countries on the Internet, i.e. the countries with the most Internet users. This list of countries ranges from China at number 1 with 420 million Internet users, and Denmark at number 50 with 4.75 million Internet users.
The data for the report was provided by Akamai, who is the world’s largest CDN provider. As the report points out, this data is very important for web publishers as they can get an idea of what kind of Internet connection speeds their customers are likely to have in different countries.
The below image details the average connection speeds of the top 50 countries on the web.
best-internet-speed-countries
As you can see from the image above, South Korea leads the pack with a staggering average connection speed of 16.63Mbps, which is way ahead of the second placed Hong Kong.
  • The top 3 countries in the list are all from Asia!
  • 7 out of top 10 countries in the list are from Europe.
  • No American country in top 10.
  • Canada beats the United States, barely, with 4.7 Mbit/s versus 4.6 Mbit/s.
  • The connection speeds of China and India are well below the worldwide average.
The average connection speed for Internet users worldwide, not just among these 50 countries, but all countries, is an average of 1.8 Mbit/s. As an average, this is actually pretty good, but as you’ve seen, there are plenty of extremes in either direction.
It’s quite encouraging that as many as 22% of the connections are 5 Mbps or faster, and even more that more than half of all connections are 2Mbps or faster. I will leave you with a chart which shows how the connection speeds of each country are distributed.

How Virtual Private Networks (VPN) Work

free-vpn

Using a Free VPN is the best idea if your answer is ‘Yes’ for any of the question below.
  • Do you have problems in opening certain websites like LinkedIn and Twitter at work?
  • Has your school blocked social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace?
  • Do you require to work anonymously online?
A VPN or virtual private network is a network that is layered on top of a basic computer network and uses a public telecommunications infrastructure like the internet. Primarily, it uses virtual connection routed through the internet from a company's private network to the remote site or employee. VPN is provided to individual users and remote offices for them to have a secure access to their organization's network. Furthermore, companies and organizations use VPN to send voice, video and data in a private manner. One nature of VPN is when a data travels over the VPN, generally it is not visible, rather it is wrapped up in the network traffic. The traffic with the VPN appears to be just another traffic stream.

In this era of fast moving technological innovations and development, one area that has lag and yet unable to match feet with the pace is online security and anonymity. Though we have opportunity to go online while on the move, we don't have surety just how secure we are. An old proverb fits well here, Prevention is better than cure. You should take preventive measures before it's too late. In this article our focus would be VPN and online security and anonymity. While I was surfing the internet, I came across many interesting websites that have been offering remote VPN accounts, they are for your sure security and anonymity online with a price tag equals that of an anti-virus license. Let me explain how it works and what is needed on your part to get a VPN.

The VPN providers have setup remote servers at various locations worldwide in various data centers. They may be at diversified locations like USA, UK, Canada, Germany etc. On the server side generally if Windows they may be using built-in RRAS (Remote routing Access) that is configured to route (or NAT) your connection to the other side (Public Address on Internet) while you get a private address from a predefined pool in there. There could principally three flavors, namely Shared IP, Dynamically Shared IP and Dedicated IP. A shared IP or a static shared IP means every time you connect (dial their server) you get similar IP address. Dynamic shared IP means every time you connect you get a different IP (from a pool of Public IP addresses, may be /24 or /25 or other). Whereas a dedicated IP would mean you will get a similar IP every time you connect but that is not shared with anyone else. In short static shared IP address is more like an open-proxy as it begin used by more than one person at a time, dynamic shared IP is not much like proxy, its concept could be understood by thinking its IP allocation as that in ADSL. Dedicated IP, as name suggests, gives you a unique IP that is solely yours and there is no point in any kind of trouble like Black listed IP, UCE listings. You should first check IP status before going to get a dedicated IP.

In order to connect to a VPN server, VPN providers provide dialers (that are actually made using a utility called, CMAK, found in windows server), generally two protocols are provided PPTP and L2TP, as your network might support either of the two. Once you are connected, all your internet bound traffic goes to the VPN provider server and from there it's routed to internet. Incoming traffic follows the similar procedure, thus your identity is completely hidden from rest of internet.

Wherever you browse its VPN provider server IP that would be visible and your IP would be hidden. Most impotently all your data that travels between your PC/MAC and secure VPN connection provider goes encrypted thus leaving no room for data loggers and hackers to intercept your traffic (passwords and private information) in a readable form.

There are unlimited benefits for such a service. Some are bypassing local internet filters, bypassing blocks on particular websites, unblocking VOIP where it's blocked; for example UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and other ME countries. VPN is also considered as work around for streaming country-specific media e.g. if a media is limited to be accessed from USA, and you get a USA VPN you could watch the media as if you were in the USA. Same goes all countries.

Cantenna as 3G Modem Signal Booster

Let's start building the project na.

Ingredients:

OK.

First of all paano ba naten icoconect yung coaxial cable sa usb modem naten?

For modem with crc9 connector: http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=126490
For modems w/o crc9 connector: http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=157497
For zte usb modems: http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=200161

Ganito yung magiging resulta niya

Ngayon gawin na naten yung mismong Cantenna...

Note: importante tong computation kasi dito nagiging effective yung Cantenna kaya hindi pwedeng i-skip to..
http://www.changpuak.ch/electronics/cantenna.php

Important values:

Unang butasin yung pagpapasukan na wire as seen on the SS make sure na tamang tama yung distance nung butas mula dun sa base ng lata

Gumamit lang ako ng 2 small nuts and bolts tsaka yung pangpadlock sa pinto as seen on the picture..

Bale ganito yung resulta niya..

AND WE'RE DONE!!!

Last thing is yung pagposition ng antenna sa bubungan natin.
NOTE: INGAT LANG PO SA PAGAKYAT SA BUBONG AT MAGPATULONG KAYO SA MGA NAKATATANDA.

Lumakas na yung reception gumanda pa yung quality ng signal also known as your RSSI as seen dun sa diagnostics ng dashboard.

Benefits:
b.) Hindi na nagsisignal drop yung modem ko as a result of several interferance sa atmosphere naten.
